I specialize in philosophy, politics, and economics (PPE), focusing on the problems of inequality in the areas of work, technology, and sustainability. I am currently writing on the right to work, ethics of automation, and consumption and climate change. I also have research interests in Hegel and German Idealism, Frankfurt School Critical Theory, Foucault, and LGBTQ philosophy.
I am the resident ethicist in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology at California State University, Los Angeles. I teach courses in applied ethics, ethics in engineering and technology, normative ethics, social and political philosophy, gender and race, and 19th century philosophy. I previously taught at Occidental College and University of California, San Diego.
Originally from Montana, I attended school in Chicago, earning a B.A. in political science, philosophy, and literature from North Central College, as well as a M.A. in philosophy from Loyola University Chicago. I then moved to SoCal, where I received my Ph.D. in philosophy from University of California, San Diego. Currently, I live in LA with my partner and two Bernese Mountain Dogs.
